About Al-Ayyam

Al-Ayyam is a newspaper that was founded during the Syrian struggle against the French mandate. Al-Ayyam was a nationalist publication with close ties to the National Bloc which was leading the resistance against the French occupation. Al-Ayyam stopped publishing shortly after the Baath Party ceased power in Syria and placed severe restrictions on press freedom.

In light of the Syrian people’s new struggle against the tyranny of the Assad family, Al-Ayyam was revived by a group of activists. The revived Al-Ayyam is a publication with coverage focusing on Syria and the world around it. Al-Ayyam was founded by Syrian pro-democracy activists seeking to improve news reports coming out of Syria and to provide in-depth analysis by Syrians on the current situation. Al-Ayyam is revolution-minded but looks to the future and hopes to print in Syria after it is liberated.
